Spa treatment

If you’re planning to get a spa treatment,   please refrain from eating within one hour prior to receiving massage or any body treatment. Alcoholic beverages should also be avoided before any spa treatment and do not shave your legs as well within 24 hours of receiving a body treatment. These are all to prep you up to a luxurious treatment.

Among all the treatments in a spa, the massage tops the list. They are core to the basic services offered to you by a spa. You might want to try different types of massage such as a Thai massage, hot stone massage or a reflexology. Second to the massage are facial services or body treatments which will be appropriated for your skin type.

A facial will deeply cleanse and maintain your skin by exfoliating dead skin cells and to maintain a smooth, clear, well-hydrated skin. The Basic Steps of a Facial involves cleansing, skin analysis, exfoliation, massage, extraction of impurities, and application of products targeted to your skin type whether dry, oily, mixed, sensitive or mature. The ideal is that you should get a facial once a month or once every six weeks. This is how long it takes the skin to regenerate. However, you should try to have a facial at least four times a year to fit with the seasonal changes. Variations of the facial include the "mini-facial" which is just cleansing without extractions and specialty facials. Vitamin C is for "age defense" facial while an "oxygen facial" happens when a mist of pure oxygen is part of the treatment. There’s also the popular "collagen facial" where special collagen sheets are placed on the skin.

In a normal body scrub on the other hand, the body scrub is often combined with a detoxifying or hydrating body wrap with products like mud, algae, or seaweed. These are used to detoxify your skin because they stimulate your blood circulation as well as lymphatic system and help your body's own ability to carry away waste products. Treatments also use rich cream or oil which softens and condition the skin.

One of the most popular body treatment is waxing, which is a temporary method of hair removal and removes hair from the root. Through this, new hairs will not grow back in the previously waxed area for three to eight weeks while almost any area of the body can be waxed. Most of these areas include eyebrows, face, bikini area, legs, back, arms, abdomen and feet. It is accomplished by spreading a wax combination thinly over the skin and where a cloth or paper strip is then pressed on the top and ripped off. This has to be done with a quick movement against the direction of hair growth. The removal of the wax takes along with it the hair and dead skin cells, leaving the skin smooth. New hair growth in waxed areas is soft and fine, unlike shaved hair so that repeated waxing will cause hair regrowth that is less common.

There are various types of waxing where some must be performed by a licensed cosmetologist or esthetician. Waxing can be performed by eyebrow waxing, face waxing, bikini, male genital, & brazilian waxing, leg waxing, arm/underarm waxing, back waxing and foot waxing. There are areas which should never be waxed and these include inside the ears and nose as well as eyelashes. Areas of the body that should only be waxed by a licensed professional include the female genitals, male genitals as well as the nipples.

Before receiving all these treatments from the spa, remember that in order to enjoy your trip you must arrive at least 30 minutes before your treatment is scheduled to begin. This way you can check in, change into your robe and use the spa facilities like a sauna, steam bath, or hot tub. To get the most out of your spa experience, do take a deep breath, exhale and leave your concerns and worries outside. Focus your mind always on the present because being in the moment will help you reap all healing benefits from your facial or body treatment. You should also to communicate with your treatment specialist especially if you have any health concerns or if you feel any discomfort. Most importantly, if you want to get long lasting health benefits from spa treatment then make them a regular part of your life and they will nurture and care for you.
